I stopped by this restaurant coincidentally a couple of days ago, on a late Thursday afternoon. The restaurant is modern, clean, and spacious, with a friendly and professional team. The service was attentive but not overbearing, which made me feel comfortable and well taken care of. I ordered two hand rolls--one with lobster, the other with eel. Both were delicious but a bit pricey at over $11 each, especially because the presentation was extremely simple: just the rolls on a plate - that's it! That said, the great atmosphere and service made up for it. I chose to see it as a "less is more" approach. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot! Once I've explored more of Davis's vibrant and diverse restaurant scene, I'll be back. Two thumbs up!

Great food and ambiance. This location was more intimate and comfortable for a nice lunch with a colleague. Would like to see more traditional Japanese offerings. While the rolls are good, it's a bit overkill.

I came in to Mikuni for lunch while I was staying in Davis. Everyone who works here is incredibly friendly and is always smiling. There are a lot of tables inside as well as a bar section and seating in front of the chefs making the sushi. I got the iron chef roll and really liked the variety of sushi I got in it. Everything tasted so fresh and I'm looking forward to coming back!

Mikuni has the most fish selection in town. On our latest visit last night, there were 9 choices from amberjack to steamed monk fish liver on the specials list. There are rolls galore and cooked entries on the menu as well. The party platters are great for functions and easy entertaining at home. We have a small collection of Mikuni swag and couple 5 pound bags of sushi rice from the birthday wheel over the years. It's not a quiet place. The bar and happy hour are as popular as the restaurant.

Mikuni's is one of my favorite sushi restaurants to go to locally. There is a large food selection so you are bound to find something you like. Mikuni's tends to get packed and they don't take reservations, so I would definitely recommend going on a weekday or showing up a little bit earlier before the dinner rush on weekends. There is plenty of seating inside, outside, and at the sushi bar. The only reason why I give four stars is because the service can be a little bit slow sometimes, which can be nice if you're okay with sitting and chatting for a bit.

Well, I walked in and hadn't ever been to this particular restaurant; I decided to try it due to family and friends' recommendations while watching a baseball game in Davis at the Little League field. They were SO RIGHT! The ambiance was nice and bustily while being welcoming as soon as I entered--I was able to be seated at the sushi bar immediately. Just good timing combined with excellent staff ensuring nice rotation of customers and clean tables, etc. I was greeted by Cai. He was personable while being timely and professional. Cai ensured that the service was so natural and didn't hover. The sushi chef was kind and thoughtful. Thank you Cai and all the staff, it wasn't so awkward to go by myself (not my usual mode of operation); however, I truly desired good sushi, and I received what I wanted and learned of a new place to go happily so.

Food was delicious and nicely plated. I came during their happy hour, everything pictured was $30. Their sushi quality stands out as they get sushi shipped from around the world! I left full & happy. They have friendly servers & sushi bar personnel. Ambiance is trendy, they have a cocktail bar, sushi car, indoor and outdoor seating. Their restrooms are super clean & modern. Good for a nice or casual meal.
